Home Remedies for Ringworms

Unfortunately, ringworms can infect any one person at any time. The only factor that ringworms need to live and survive on is warm and damp places to grow in. Ringworms thrive in these kinds of environments and can be transferred from person to person, and can even be transferred from animal to human. The typical ringworm rash can be seen on someone's chest, feet, armpits, and even scalp. However, some types of ringworm infections are more difficult to treat. All of the ringworm infections can be given home treatments that sometimes, in fact, are more successful than other prescription treatments and over the counter medications.

One of these home remedies for ringworms includes the use of bleach. Applying normal bleach that you can buy at any store on the ringworm infection for up to two to three times a day will cure the ringworm infection. The bleach should be applied directly to the infection and works even better after the infected area is cleaned. The best time to apply bleach would be both in the mornings after your first shower or bath, and also another good time to apply bleach to your ringworm infection would be after an evening shower. Cleaning the infection makes it more susceptible to the bleach, which in turn, acts on the ringworm.

Scalp ringworm, which is one of the most difficult types of ringworm to get rid of, which was mentioned above, has a couple unique treatments for the infection. Castor oil is a good application to apply to the head directly after washing your hair. Castor oil will also work without washing your hair, but as with the bleach, washing your hair enables the castor oil to penetrate more deeply into the ringworm infection. The castor oil that is used to treat ringworms can be purchased usually at any health store. Other good treatments for scalp ringworm are shampoos that include a menthol ingredient. Sometimes you can find these is in any normal dandruff shampoos. But the menthol ingredient will also help the ringworm infection as it will make it feel more tingly, and can be used in combination with the castor oil as well.

A couple other home remedies for ringworm infections include the use of raw vegetable juices, as well as coconut oil. Raw vegetable juices can be applied to the ringworm areas, and should be used at least twice a day in order to be effective. Coconut oil, on the other hand, can be used to supplement the vegetable juices. It will help the skin to stay soft so that the ringworm infection will not have any chance to grow or become even more infected. Most people who use a combination of raw vegetable juices and coconut oil have found it to be very beneficial and useful in the fight against their own ringworms.

There are many other home remedies that can be used to fight off ringworms; only several have been listed here to give you an idea of how you can treat the infection. Along with these ideas, it would be a good idea to seek professional medical advice in case these formulas do not work for any particular individual. Ringworms should definitely be paid attention to, and early treatment at home can prevent later trouble in case of severe infection.
